Hapkido International Association was founded in January 2000 by Master Jong Hyuk Kim at his Dojang in Launceston, Tasmania.
Since arriving in Australia from Korea in 1990, Master Kim had been teaching Hapkido full-time in Tasmania. He has personally groomed a team of black-belt instructors, some as high as fifth dan.
These students now form the instruction & management team on which the Association is based.
Master Kim is very proud of these students who possess very high quality Hapkido techniques and teaching skills, all in the traditional form of Hapkido. This comes from Master Kim and our members having a very pure Hapkido heritage, with direct links to Korea and only a few short steps from the founder of the name Hapkido, Choi Yong-Sul.

Hapkido International Association is unique. It is a relatively young organization but with very firm roots and a broad, ambitious outlook.
We are affiliated with the Moo Moo Kwan Hapkido Association, South Korea.
Our aim is to bring Hapkido to as many people as we can throughout the world and to teach them the art in a way that will enrich their lives and the lives of those around them.
We focus on respect for others, self discipline and good manners in all of life's dealings. We have schools in several states of Australia and are looking for new students and schools to join us in our quest.
